Introducing The Chiropractor Dr. David Shapiro To See Tucker

Meet Dr. David Shapiro Tucker Chiropractor

“I admit, I was a skeptic,” remembers Dr. David Shapiro. But at the age of 16, I didn't want to have surgery (blood is my kryptonite). My parents insisted that I try chiropractic care since I was possibly going to have to sit out my senior year of wrestling after experiencing daily knee pain after my off-season injury. I was reluctant, but to humor my parents I made an appointment to see Dr. Murray Galbraith, the local chiropractor.

“It was incredible,” continues Dr. Shapiro. “I’ll never forget that first adjustment. It was as if a huge weight was suddenly lifted from my shoulders. Dr. Galbraith balanced out my body, allowing the injured knee to finally heal. That’s when I decided I was going to be a chiropractor.”

Dr. Shapiro began his pre-chiropractic education at SUNY Oneonta in upstate NY where he studied the basic sciences, such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses. After completing his bachelor’s degree there, he was accepted at Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Georgia. During his four years at Life, his courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the Life University Public Clinic. After graduating in 1993, Dr. Shapiro settled here in the Atlanta area with his wife to establish his practice.

“We love skeptics,” smiles Dr. Shapiro. “I still remember the concerns and apprehension I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over-communicate. Patients often say that they have never had a doctor explain things so clearly to them, and they appreciate that.”

"I have a wife of almost fourteen years and three children, two boys and a girl, who have been adjusted since birth and regularly thereafter. Most children 'play doctor' when they are young. Of course my kids 'played chiropractor'. We love to go skiing as a family so our Atlanta-born kids can see some snow every now and then".

"My wife, Arlene works with me in my practice so this is a real family affair. We share in our patients' pain and also in their triumphs regarding not only their health care, but in their everyday lives. We are fortunate to work in such a special place where we take our patients' care to heart. My favorite thing is to follow up with new patients in the evening after their first adjustments in our office and hear them being totally blown away by this gesture of genuine concern. I know I am in the right profession doing the right things and it gives me purpose".

"I'll bet you are wondering how doctors of chiropractic get adjusted. I have a colleague who visits once per week and we adjust each other, to keep our spines in good shape. I see chiropractic as the least cost, least invasive approach to addressing a litany of health problems. Chiropractic care gets my spine back in shape when it's 'out', and holds it in alignment to keep me on the job, taking care of my patients. If it weren't for regular chiropractic care, I would not be able to do what I do".

“Thanks for visiting our site. I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we may be of service to you. Give our Tucker office a call, or email me using the link below and let’s arrange a time to explore your options.”

Dr. Shapiro Asks some important questions of interest to Atlanta residents - Chiropractor Atlanta Dr. Shapiro Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
Where do most Atlanta residents get their first subluxation?
Being born in a hospital is a common source of subluxation. Trauma from forceps delivery has been replaced with drugs, vacuum extraction, Cesarean section and births that are "scheduled" to fit the workweek routines of Ob-Gyns. That's why we recommend a chiropractic checkup for every Atlanta newborn.
