Your First Visit to Our Tucker Practice

New patients often remark how “homey” our office is. That’s good, because our goal is to offer state-of-the-art chiropractic care in a comfortable surrounding. So, make yourself at home!

You’ll find convenient parking behind our building. You’ll be greeted by name when you enter our office, introduced to the staff and given a few forms to fill out so the doctor can get a picture of your health history and current status. If you would like to fill out your forms prior to your first visit, just call and ask us to fax them. You’ll then be given a short tour to get you acquainted with our facilities and then shown to a consultation room.

The purpose of your consultation with the doctor is to discuss your health goals and see if chiropractic is likely to help you. If it looks promising, a thorough examination will help identify the cause of your problem. This exam will include orthopedic and neurological tests to locate possible sources of compromised health. Dr. Shapiro will then take x- rays of your area of chief complaint. Information gathered from your first visit will allow the doctor to make a determination as to what type of care is right for you.

To conclude your first visit, you will be offered pain-relieving therapies, such as electrical muscle stimulation, inter-segmental traction and cryotherapy. These will help to take the edge off the pain until your next visit.

Following therapy, you’ll check out at our front desk. We will give you literature on chiropractic and answer any questions you might have at this point. We will get you scheduled for your first adjustment and for the Doctor’s report, at which time Dr. Shapiro will review your x-ray findings. Your first visit may take up to one hour.

Dr. Shapiro Asks some important questions of interest to Atlanta residents - Chiropractor Atlanta Dr. Shapiro Asks...

What's the difference between sick care and health care?
Sick care is largely about relieving or suppressing symptoms. Health care is about improving performance. While sick care is about how you feel, health care is about how you function. Sick care is what you do to treat an obvious problem, and health care is what you do to avoid the problem and advance your well-being.
Where do most Atlanta residents get their first subluxation?
Being born in a hospital is a common source of subluxation. Trauma from forceps delivery has been replaced with drugs, vacuum extraction, Cesarean section and births that are "scheduled" to fit the workweek routines of Ob-Gyns. That's why we recommend a chiropractic checkup for every Atlanta newborn.
